Teaching Volunteering in Arusha – Make an Impact at Charity Academy
Are you passionate about teaching, working with children, and creating lasting change in underserved communities? Our Teaching Volunteering Program in Arusha, Tanzania, offers you a meaningful opportunity to support early childhood education and help build brighter futures for vulnerable children.
More about this project
In 2020, we launched Charity Academy Daycare & Preschool in Arusha with the goal of providing free, quality education to children from disadvantaged backgrounds. We serve children who are orphans, street children, or come from single-parent and low-income families. Today, more than 50 children attend our center, each receiving a safe, supportive, and loving environment where they can learn and grow.
The vision behind Charity Academy comes from our founder’s commitment to using education as a powerful tool to unlock potential. Our mission is to nurture talent, build confidence, and equip children and youth with lifelong skills.
What You’ll Do as a Teaching Volunteer
As a teaching volunteer, you’ll work closely with local teachers and caregivers to support children aged 2 to 6 in early learning activities. We use basic English to teach foundational concepts such as:
- Numbers and counting
- The alphabet and phonics
- Singing songs and nursery rhymes
- Storytelling and reading
- Creative play and educational games
You’ll also be part of the children’s daily routine, helping them with meals, assisting during playtime, and encouraging their social and emotional development. This is a hands-on, rewarding experience for volunteers who want to make a direct and visible impact in the lives of young learners.
Why Volunteer with Travel for charity Tanzania?
Unlike many organization, Travel for charity Tanzania focuses on supporting at-risk children, giving them access to education they might otherwise miss. Our program not only teaches academic skills, but also helps children discover their natural talents and build confidence, creating a solid foundation for their future.
Currently, we provide daily porridge and, on some days, a cooked meal. Our resources are limited, but our dedication is strong. We operate Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to late afternoon. Once children reach age 7, we support their transition to local government primary schools. Our dream is to open a full primary school by 2027, ensuring that our students can continue learning in a stable, supportive environment.
